Oh, It's “Simple,” Is It?

What it does

Raised-eyebrow verdict for any supposedly “simple” task whose complications are already visible.

Use it when

  • Someone describes a difficult job as simple.
  • A company swaps in soothing language for an obvious downgrade.
  • The key term in an argument is doing far too much work.

For example

  1. The landlord calls the mold “decorative weathering.”
  2. The tutorial’s “quick setup” has reached step 46.
  3. “Technically, the resort is ocean-adjacent.”
